Treaty Catastrophe Analyst


Our client is looking to hire a Treaty Catastrophe Analyst to join their London based office on a Permanent basis.

Key Duties:

  • Utilising various catastrophe modelling platforms to process, model and analyse aggregate and detailed exposure data
  • Providing analysis and insight into the model outputs to underwriters at both an account and portfolio level
  • Monitoring portfolios against risk appetite measures
  • Maintaining an in-force portfolio and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the data and results
  • Working closely with underwriters on a daily basis to understand their priorities and manage their expectations accordingly
  • Responsible for running and understanding their portfolio optimization software and communicating results to underwriters to help them support their decisions
  • Liaising with underwriters, catastrophe modellers, and underwriter assistants during the optimization process to ensure business-driven focus

Other expectations:

  • Participating in the wider activities of the Exposure Management Team
  • From time to time, taking part in relevant projects throughout the wider business
  • Keeping up-to-date with new science and technological developments in the Catastrophe Management field
  • Performing other related duties to meet the on-going needs of the organisation

Qualifications required:

  • Educated to degree level in a numerical discipline
  • Other relevant professional qualifications (or progress towards) such as ACII, CRM or CCRA

Experience required:

  • Strong mathematical skills with a good understanding of probability and statistics
  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, R) are not essential but highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS SQL
