Risk Analyst


Our client is looking to hire a Risk Analyst to join their team in Basingstoke on a Permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing analysis of the risk profiles for all areas within the RMS
  • Monitoring and reporting risk exposures against risk appetite
  • Supporting the continued operation of risk management in respect of the requirements of Solvency II
  • Supporting the Insurance Risk Manager in the:
    • Maintenance of Pillar 2 (ORSA) methodology and assumptions
    • Summarising and completing a thorough analysis of ORSA results
    • Supporting the production of the ORSA report and related documentation
    • Supporting the provision of oversight, relevant evidence and challenge of the business’ risk and capital management processes including Standard Formula, ORSA, risk appetite and stress and scenario testing
  • Producing timely, accurate and complete Risk Management Information and reports including those required for Corporate office
  • Assisting in the Preparation and analysis of Line two Deep Dives across the full RMS universe
  • Have Line two ownership of the Operational risk capital calculation engine (“the AMA”) and use this in the production of the relevant capital calculations for ORSA
  • Provide ongoing support for the Line two monitoring programme over Models and End User Computing (“MEUC”), and to provide support to Line two in respect of Model and Spreadsheet development
  • Support as required the Head of Investment Risk
  • Support as Required the Frameworks Manager and the Head of Operational Risk


Other Skills:

  • Ability to effectively network within and outside the organisation to leverage good practice ideas

Experience required:

  • Experience in design and implementation of Risk Management Frameworks
  • Actuarial experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Experience of managing liabilities or the risks inherent in those liabilities within a life insurance business
  • Knowledge of economic capital modelling
  • Broad understanding of risk mitigation techniques within a life insurer, (not necessarily within a risk function)
  • Able to communicate technical material effectively in written and verbal form across all target groups up to Senior Management level
  • Broad understanding of relevant UK regulatory requirements
