Regulatory Compliance Manager


Our client is looking to hire a Regulatory Compliance Manager to join them in their London & Worthing based office on a Permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the company’s corporate governance structure complies with applicable laws and regulations, internal rules and Group policies and standards
  • Verify the practical application of the company’s regulatory compliance governance process including business conduct procedures, analytical tool, policies, manuals and reporting through reviews against applicable law and regulations and implement changes where needed
  • Support risk stewardship in all key areas of regulatory compliance
  • Prepare and coordinate the approval of change of control and distributions
  • Assist in the calculation of individual capital assessments for each of the UK/Europe companies. This will involve interaction with internal and external Actuaries
  • Ensure focused, sound, robust communication with the regulators
  • Lead regulatory compliance projects, producing high quality analysis, managing stakeholders, and delivering timely advice, guidance and training to employees. Report all material compliance issues or significant breaches on a timely basis
  • Effective communication with the board, the COO of Europe and Interaction with various UK entities through the sufficient information exchange
  • Develop a well-defined escalation processes and coordinate dispute resolutions and complaints
  • Manage the governance process with the development of an appropriate set of tools for oversight, testing and reporting and ensure appropriate documentation is provided to regulators, including, approved persons, compensation policy, Solvency II and ORSA documentation
  • Identify, define and execute regulatory policies, update as needed
  • Improve the level of awareness of the compliance environment among management and employees, including training on regulatory policy
  • Foster a close relationship with enterprise risk management and improve knowledge and skills on risk analysis
  • Give expert advise to other company’s project i.e. review of internal control, automatization

Qualifications required:

  • At least 8 years of non-life re/insurance run-off experience of which 4 should be in a solid and proven practical regulatory compliance role
  • A degree in law or finance

Experience required:

  • A solid understanding and knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance regulatory framework including prudential requirements covering capital resources, valuation of assets, operational risk, annual returns etc. and all reporting requirements
  • Have a developed network of contracts to ensure advice and guidance is fully comprehensive and accurate
