Portfolio Analyst


Our client is looking to hire a Portfolio Analyst to join their London based office on a Permanent basis.

Key Duties:

  • Support Technical Manager with day-to-day and adhoc portfolio-level analytics using simulated output
  • Support team in the automation and streamlining of their analytics and processes
  • Provide analysis and insight into the portfolio composition and movements and work closely with the portfolio managers to understand such movements
  • Work closely with the outwards reinsurance team to optimize the benefit of their reinsurance as well as to prepare their information for their reinsurance and investor panel
  • Support Own View of Risk projects with technical skill
  • Maintain an in-force portfolio and ensure the completeness and accuracy of the data and results

Other expectations:

  • Participating in the wider activities of the Exposure Management Team as well as the overall Risk Function
  • From time to time, taking part in relevant projects throughout the wider business
  • Keeping up-to-date with technological developments applicable to their field
  • Performing other related duties to meet the on-going needs of the organisation
  • Analytical abilities coupled with excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instruction where needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present to a variety of audience
  • Willingness to use initiative to solve problems
  • Attention to detail in a data intensive environment
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely

Qualifications required:

  • Educated to degree level in a numerical discipline is preferred
  • Other relevant professional qualifications (or progress towards) such as ACII, CRM or CCRA

Experience required:

  • Strong mathematical skills with a good understanding of probability and statistics
  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, R) are not essential but highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS SQL
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry will be a plus
