Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage cat modelling activity during renewal periods with their outsourcing partner
  • Ensure modelling data is complete and meets quality standards before it is passed on to the cat modelling team
  • Manage modelling priorities and deal flow in accordance to deal materiality and business requirements
  • Review modelling results and ensure that internal quality standards are met before results are used in the pricing process
  • Maintain their view of Nat cat risks with help from underwriting and risk teams
  • Participate in selection of vendor models. Ensure appropriate model versions and model settings are selected
  • Periodic review of cat model updates and model validation
  • Ensure relevant model documentation and policies are up to date
  • Identify non-(vendor) modelled Nat cat exposures and ensure that such exposures are appropriately captured in the pricing process
  • Develop and maintain basic in-house cat model benchmarks (e.g. industry loss curves)
  • Maintain regular Nat cat exposure aggregation reports and assist in the portfolio roll up
  • Provide cat model data for the syndicate’s business planning, capital modelling process and exposure management returns
  • Manage post loss event response process and provide the claims and reserving teams with relevant data and information
  • Build strong relationships with management and underwriting teams
  • Understand business requirements and ensure that their cat modelling incorporates all relevant market trends. Keep abreast of cat model developments in the wider market.

Experience required:

  • Minimum of five years cat modelling experience
  • Experienced in the use of vendor cat models (in particular RMS) essential
  • Can highlight competencies in programming, in particular VBA and R
  • Reinsurance experience and Lloyd’s experience is considered a plus
  • Strong communication skills
