Overview

Key Duties:

  • Build on their current client relationships where they support their clients on reserving, regulatory and other market issues
  • Increase their footprint within the Personal Lines arena – looking to leverage the wider firm connections they have in analytics and data transformation
  • They are looking to strengthen their team at the Manager level and you would be an integral part of the team building out and delivering on their growth strategy
  • Managing to completion the technical delivery and reporting for projects, as well as providing insight to projects in terms of technical content
  • Assisting in the dialogue with client project sponsors and fully manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost
  • Assisting in responding to client proposals including clarification of need and participation in written and oral presentations
  • Developing people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff

  • Risk averse – Identifies risk on the assignment, involving Senior Manager / Director / Partner appropriately in its resolution

  • Development of ideas – Play your part in the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction
  • Technical and Industry Expertise – Have a deep understanding of two of the following: Reserving for different classes of business, Reinsurance pricing, Risk Management, Pricing of Personal Lines or Specialty Market business, Capital model building or Capital model validation
  • People – Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff
  • Be a problem solver; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different client problems to help design and implement the solution
  • Have a track record of managing projects, reserving activity and individuals
  • Be able to deal with outward-facing client management on projects
  • Be commercially savvy and able to actively engage in discussions on future market trends and what this may mean for their clients

Qualifications required:

  • Be a Qualified actuary with degree-level qualification

Experience required:

  • Have general insurance experience gained from working either in an insurer or at an actuarial consultancy firm
  • Have experience of at least two of the following:
    • Independent reserve reviews under different accounting bases for either
  • Property and casualty classes of business with experience of the London and Bermuda market
  • Personal lines experience
    • Reserving process improvement and development work
    • Development or review of Solvency II technical provisions and associated processes
    • Reserve risk assessment using bootstrapping techniques
    • Building and developing capital models or capital modelling techniques
    • Deep experience in at least two of the commonly modelled risk types
    • The review of Solvency II internal models and associated processes
    • Knowledge of machine learning techniques
  • Experience in applying analytical techniques to a range of data to solve problems
  • Visualisation packages including Tableau, Qlikview and Spotfire
  • Understand the links between reserve assessment, pricing, claims and underwriting
