Graduate / Assistant Cat Modeller


Our client is looking to hire a Graduate Assistant Cat Modeller to join their London based team on a Permanent basis.

Key Duties:

Receive Property XL modelling data, check this data and run the required reports:

  • Receive modelling data; attach the databases (EDMs/RDMs) and record the relevant information in the Workflow
  • Understand and check the information, highlight anomalies in the Workflow
  • Produce Data Quality, TSI and Movement reports
  • Reports are prepared on a timely basis once the data has been received

Provide modelling results and marginal analysis for individual policies on request of underwriters:

  • Information is presented in concise reports. This information is logical, accurate, and provides the underwriters with all catastrophe modelling data needed to underwrite the risk
  • All policies received from underwriters are managed so results are completed in a timely manner and according to priority
  • Information is logically compared with previous modelling data as a benchmark check, with anomalies proactively highlighted
  • RDS information for each account is presented clearly and accurately. This information will enable the underwriters to take a view on each accounts RDS contribution
  • Obtain technical pricing data from RMS and ensure the information is presented clearly and accurately
  • Queries are resolved quickly and accurately
  • Positive feedback from the underwriting team

Cleansing of data entered into RMS:

  • Where relevant, data received from underwriters is cleansed accurately and into the accepted RMS format
  • Ensure required level of geocoding is achieved for all accounts and any issues are flagged
  • Cleansed data is checked for precision and accuracy against underwriting slips

Assist in development of modelling assumptions:

  • Understanding of current modelling assumptions and limitations
  • Analysis of the associated impact of cat model results

Adhoc Research and Development Projects:

  • Assist where required, with the development of internal tools, processes and view of risk

Ensure continuous training and development of yourself:

  • Ensure own training plan is monitored and completed

Takes responsibility for own and colleagues’ Health & Safety at all times:

  • Statutory, personal and Company Health & Safety policy regulations are adhered to

To ensure the company’s Global Customers are treated fairly at all times, in accordance with the Conduct Risk Policy and other relevant policies and procedures:

  • Compliance with applicable Lloyd’s Minimum Standards and the company’s Global policies and procedures
  • Satisfactory performance as reflected in relevant Conduct Risk MI

Qualifications required:

  • A level or University Degree
