Director Capital Actuary (Division)


Our client is looking to hire a Director in Capital Actuarial to join their London based team on a Permanent basis.

Key Duties:

  • Deep dive into ALM and Capital methodologies – provide technical analyses to the DHoAR and DRMC on approaches being applied or proposed, and make pragmatic recommendations for optimisation and process improvement
  • Responding to short and long term DRMC actions or initiatives relating to specific areas of capital measurement or management methodologies – providing DCA with dedicated technical capability to support these key initiatives
  • Input to capital optimisation projects and supporting pricing on complex capital structures (eg. Fin Re, new product lines) – provide the regulatory or economic capital insight to the project/deal team to enable them to deliver a successful outcome on time
  • Understanding capital implications from non-S2 capital regimes (eg. Asia markets, Canada, Australia) – become the Division Centre expert on capital regimes outside of UK/EU
  • Become the champion for knowledge sharing on S2 and related topics to all Business Units
  • Develop a capital optimisation toolkit to provide a suite of potential management actions for DRMC to draw on for regular activities (eg. ORSA, Recovery Planning) as well as ad hoc resilience exercises
  • Technical input and thought leadership for major Division wide actuarial projects (eg. IFRS 17, USGAAP LDTI)
  • Support the HoAR to respond to initiatives requested by DRMC and the DHoAR on ALM and Capital methodologies
  • Provide direct input on capital optimisation initiatives and support pricing on complex structures
  • Provide insight into the implications of S2 and other capital regimes into business planning and stress testing/scenario analyses
  • Provide thought leadership for Division wide actuarial initiatives
  • Support the HoAR in the review of reporting, business planning and stress testing/scenario results

Qualifications required:

  • Qualified Actuary

Experience required:

  • Demonstrable understanding of the life insurance (or reinsurance) industry
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills
  • Comfortable with software packages, such as Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Economic Capital, Solvency II and US GAAP
