Drive forward a detailed understanding of underlying exposures and modelled losses within the underwriting function to support profitable growth. Provide an effective interface between underwriting and strategic functions for all exposure and modelling matters.

Overview

Key Duties:

  • To own end-to-end M&E Cat modelling/data capture processes, maintaining up-to-date documentation
  • To direct Cat Modelling activity across the M&E product line, in line with business priorities
  • Ensure M&E exposure data standards are well understood by Underwriting and actively monitored
  • To report and make data quality recommendations highlighting areas for improvement within M&E
  • To drive process efficiencies by embedding technology, most notably ARPS, within M&E
  • To maintain an appropriate level of modelling resource, internal and external, to support M&E
  • To manage outsourcing partners for M&E to operate in line with internal standards
  • To contribute towards an M&E strategic roadmap, ensuring profitable portfolio growth and optimisation
  • Ensure M&E processes are aligned with best practice (R&D), exceed Lloyd’s minimum standards

Qualifications required:

  • Excellent academic qualifications including a minimum 2:1 degree
  • Strong mathematical, modelling, technical background
  • Insurance qualifications are desirable

Experience required:

  • Minimum 4 year’s catastrophe modelling experience
  • Must have experience of modelling and management of Marine, Energy and Specialty lines
  • Experience of major vendor models RMS and/or AIR essential
  • Experience of/proficiency in the use of mapping/analytical software, QGIS, Spatial Key etc. desirable
  • Must be proficient in Excel and the use of SQL
  • Additional programming skills, VBA, Python/R, an advantage
