Our client is looking to hire an Actuarial Reserving Risk Lead Contractor to join them on a Contract basis.

Overview

Key Duties:

Planning:

  • Formulate scope of activity, including Reserving Risk techniques to be investigated. Plan of work developed and agreed

Reserving Risk calculation:

  • Complete a reserving risk calculation across all applicable techniques and classes. Output should be summarised and presented to in-house reserving experts for review

Documentation:

The approach taken and results should be fully documented to Solvency II standards. This will include results from each approach used and the final selection. The pros and cons from each technique will be highlighted forming a checklist where specific class characteristics can be used to narrow down the techniques that should be used

Results:

A new BAU reserving risk process should be developed where the findings from the investigation are used to design and embed a new and efficient process that means the calculation can easily be repeated

Qualifications required:

  • A qualified actuary

Experience required:

  • Several years of non-life actuarial experience
  • A significant amount of this experience will ideally have been within the loss reserving area, including assessing reserving risk
  • Experience in process enhancement / implementation will be beneficial, with knowledge of Igloo, ResQ, VBA and Database management systems advantageous
